We’re always excited to see new homeowners from the gorgeous capital city of Tallahassee, FL! Since we began serving this area, Kingdom Tree Insurance Group often receives questions about basic home insurance coverage. We hope that this small guide will help all homeowners, new and old, understand what home insurance does and why it’s so important!
What is basic home insurance?
Basic home insurance gets its name from the "perils" typically listed as the most common threats to your home. These common or "basic" hazards are naturally the ones you would want to be insured against! That’s why a basic home insurance policy typically covers a wide range of events. There are three types of basic insurance called HO-1, HO-2, and HO-3. Most homeowners have an HO-3 type of policy, which offers the broadest range of basic perils to be insured against.
What does a basic home insurance policy cover?
When you purchase an HO-3 form policy, you will typically be insured for 16 types of threats against your home and property. Some examples of these "named perils" include:
- Fire, lightning, smoke, wind, and hail damage
- Vandalism, theft, civil commotion or rioting damage
- Vehicular or aircraft damage
- Falling objects
- Electrical current damages in appliances or household wiring
Many other perils may not be specifically listed on your policy that you will be covered for too! Most common hazards, unless specifically excluded by your homeowner’s policy, are usually covered. (This includes events such as volcano eruptions, something our friends in Tallahassee, FL thankfully don’t have to worry about much!)
Kingdom Tree Insurance Group understands that selecting home insurance can sometimes be confusing and stressful. That’s why we encourage you to bring us all of your insurance questions, big and small. Let’s work together to find the best policy to protect you and your home!
